TRAVEL SERVICES

ARRIVAL AND TRANSPORT TO UROS TITICACA LODGE

If you arrive at Juliaca airport will be received by our representative that will take you to the floating islands of the Uros Titicaca Lodge. Otherwise contact us to coordinate your transport to the lodging. This is within the national reserve of Lake Titicaca. The approximate travel time to the floating island is 30 minutes away by boat.

If you arrive by train Andean Explorer of Cusco (arrives at 18:00 hours), will be received by our representatives and cars at the train station in Puno and transfered to the port of the city and address a boat in a route of 30 minutes.

If you arrive at a bus terminal, will be received by our representatives and cars and transfered to the port of the city and address a boat in a route of 30 minutes.

If you stay in a hotel of the city of Puno, we transfer to the port of the island Esteves and address a boat in a route of 30 minutes.

PAYMENTS AND CASH

Note that in the floating islands of the Uros no ATMS, all payments for additional services must be made in cash. The ATMS are available only in the city of Puno. We recommend traveling with enough cash to their shopping cart or local costs.

SAFETY AND HEALTH

Altitude Sickness or Soroche
Uros Titicaca Lodge is located 3,810 meters above sea level. From the 2,000 meters of height, it is possible to suffer "Soroche", characterized by headache, dizziness and nausea. To avoid these symptoms, we suggest that you plan your trip to adapt gradually to the altitude in Arequipa or Cusco. During his first day in Uros Titicaca Lodge follow these tips:
- Avoid excessive exercise.
- Drink plenty of water (more than 3 liters per day).
- Do not drink alcoholic beverages or coffee (or do it moderately).
In Uros Titicaca Lodge, we offer coca teas that are ancient natural remedies to alleviate and prevent these symptoms. In addition, we count with first aid equipment and oxygen throughout your stay and manage additional oxygen to all who need it. The nearby hospitals and medical assistance are available in 30 minutes in the city of Puno.
Water quality
In Uros Titicaca Lodge we process and filter the water of the lake for the use of the Uros people however it is not recommended to drink it, for travelers is used bottled water for drinking, cooking and washing during your stay. The drinks (BEER, SOFT DRINKS AND BOTTLED WATER ARE NOT INCLUDED BUT ARE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE.)
Sunburn
If you are traveling in highlands of Peru, sunburn can be serious due to the height and the high radiation. Be sure to use a good sunscreen, preferably greater than 45 SPF, and a hat at all times.
Dehydration
Due to the dry weather, the dehydration and dryness can become a problem. Uros Titicaca Lodge recommends drink plenty of water and use a lip balm and moisturizer on a continuous basis.
Climate and time
The time in Puno, due to its geographical location and its high altitude, continually changes. The days are warm and cold nights. The region has two seasons, December until March offers warm nights, and occasional rain. The winter is dry with sunny days and cool nights and clear.

ELECTRICITY IN UROS TITICACA LODGE

It is recommended to bring charged the batteries of the cameras, laptop, I-pod, Uros Titicaca Lodge is equipped with solar panels that only caters to the illumination of the lodging.

LUGGAGE

Puno Weather changes rapidly, it is advisable to wear light clothing during the day when it's sunny (shirts / sweatshirts, short sleeve shirts, shorts) and warm winter clothing for sunset walks (sweater, jacket, fleece, pants long). It is also recommended to use walking shoes, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen when you are out of Uros Titicaca Lodge.

The accommodation is surrounded by Lake Titicaca has a casual atmosphere, so feel free to use comfortable clothes and warm clothes. If you do need to wash something, Uros Titicaca Lodge offers laundry service in the city of Puno.

All bathrooms are the ecological dry toilets.

TERMS OF UROS TITICACA LODGE

Check-in from 12:00 to 20:00 pm.
Check -out from dawn till 10:00 am.
Cancellation: We accept reservations through emails, and the payment would be to the arrival in Puno or Uros Titicaca Lodge. No deposit is required. (Basically, you send us a mail here confirming which tour you'd like to take, pay the money when you get here, and it's done!)
