We spent two nights at Uros in July 2022 and loved the experience. The lodge is remote and set on its own island. It is something like a cross between a homestay and a hotel, a hotel in that you have your own room that looks onto the lake from several angles, and a homestay in that you are afforded a great deal of contact with Iván and family and their community as you eat in the common room and go out on excursions with them. Iván took us and other guests out for a fishing trip on both mornings. While Iván set his net along the reeds, he talked to us about Uros life on Lago Titicaca. He talked about daily life, sustainability, the effects of COVID on life in the area, technology, challenges of tourism on the community and other subjects. We woke up each morning to one of the most memorable sunrises imaginable, and we had great views of the stars at night from the remote island. Iván and family are warm and they have set up rooms that go easier on the Earth—fire pit and big blankets kept us warm at night, we met our electrical needs through solar power, etc. This was a unique and memorable way to enjoy the lake and the people who call it home. We recommend it highly.

This was truly an amazing stay! The lodge was incredible, the view was beautiful and Ivan was a great host. He learned us a lot about his culture, and we felt that he had a truly commitment to learn his guests about the life on the lake. We would recommend to stay a couple of nights to be sure to get the most out of the stay at the lake. You will get incredible food and a lot of great experiences!

It is important to understand that there are various Lodges in Lake Titicaca and its easy to be confused by them (at least I was confused). THE Uros Titicaca Lodge is very remote from all the other Lodges and Accommodations in Uros. Uros is like a little village with many accommodations, THE Uros Titicaca Lodge is 15-20 minutes by boat away. That has the advantage that you have the unspoiled vastness of lake Titicaca there. Having said that, the host, Ivan, is a great guy who will do anything to make your stay special. We went out with the boat on the lake, we used the kajak and much more. The only disadvantage (but that´s part of the authentic experience), there is no heating, so at night in June it was very very cold (despite the many blankets I had) Overall: thumbs up, great experience

Huge thanks to Ivan and his family for such a rich, meaningful visit. We had no idea how much we’d learn - and how well we’d be taken care of. Ivan was an outstanding cultural broker, welcoming all our questions and sharing his unique environment and culture with openness and depth. One of us is an anthropologist and we all travel widely, and we really treasured this experience. He advised us on area activities and arranged a unique visit to Taquille Island (where men are among the world’s best knitters). Delicious, nutritious meals and thoughtful, comfortable accommodations... We want to come back and get better at rowing a tortora boat (harder than it looks)!!
